ASSETS is a 36-page artist publication with written texts by Laurence Counihan and Róisín Power Hackett, a limited edition poster by Cillian Finnerty and visual documentation from Ellie Niblock and David Beattie. ASSETS was a multi-part, multi-platform project led by artist David Beattie that occurred from 15th Oct-14th Nov 2021. Designed by Emmet Brown, and Riso printed by Or Studio.
Through a series of interactions with physical, augmented and virtual objects, ASSETS examines the role of the human hand in image recognition and digital technologies. The project hopes to discuss the complex network of physical and non-physical interactions we now experience as a society, thinking about haptic feedback from hybrid experiences, and what might get lost in between.
